Migration and Democracy: How Remittances Undermine Dictatorships with Abel Escribà-Folch

Abel Escribà-Folch kicks off the EU-VALUES webinar series by discussing his critically acclaimed book, “Migration and Democracy: How Remittances Undermine Dictatorships”, which explores the impact of migrant remittances on authoritarian regimes in the Global South.

This book, a collaborative effort with authors Covadonga Meseguer and Joseph Wright, highlights how these financial transfers can empower citizens, shape political activism and undermine dictatorial governance.

In discussion with Francesco Pasetti, Research Fellow at CIDOB in the area of Migrations and Professor at IBEI and UPF.
