Update: Euro-Asia Summer School 2024 - Bridging Continents for Future Global Governance
The 16th Euro-Asia Summer School, held from August 26th to September 6th, 2024, focused on "Global Values: European and Asian Perspectives on the Future of Global Governance." Hosted by top academic institutions in Seoul and Leuven, and supported by the EU-VALUES Network, our participants engaged in lectures and field trips, enabling intercultural dialogue on global governance issues. Euro-Asia Summer School 2024: Bridging Continents for Future Global Governance
The 16th Euro-Asia Summer School, themed "Global Values: European and Asian Perspectives on the Future of Global Governance," will run from August 26th to September 6th, 2024. Organised by leading institutions, including Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies and Hitotsubashi University alongside EU-VALUES Network.
The first week at Seoul National University will feature lectures on East Asian development, while the second week at KU Leuven will focus on European governance. Students will engage in discussions, field trips, and networking opportunities, enhancing their understanding of global challenges.
Call for Papers: Promoting Democracy and the Rule of Law – Global Perspectives
The Universidad de Chile will host the first EU-VALUES International Conference on December 5th-6th, 2024. Organised by the Instituto de Estudios Internacionales and IBEI, this interdisciplinary event invites abstracts exploring strategies to promote democracy and the rule of law in light of recent global challenges. Topics include the impact of security policies on democratic values and EU-Latin America cooperation. Abstracts (300 words) and bios (150 words) are due by September 30, 2024. The conference will feature keynotes, panel discussions, and presentations in English and Spanish.
Kick-Off Meeting of the EU-VALUES Network
The EU-VALUES network launched successfully with two kick-off meetings on January 22nd-23rd, 2024, catering to partners in the Americas and Asia. Network Coordinator Prof. Jacint Jordana opened the sessions, emphasising collaboration. Participants introduced their research, and Network Manager Dr. Adam Holesch outlined operational structures. Key committees for Gender Equality and Editorial functions were established, leading to discussions on future initiatives. These meetings marked a promising start for the EU-VALUES network, fostering connections and setting the stage for collaborative efforts to achieve shared goals.
