Kick-Off Meeting of the EU-VALUES Network

The EU-VALUES network has successfully initiated its journey with two dynamic kick-off meetings held on the 22nd and 23rd of January 2024, tailored for the time zones of partners from the Americas and Asia. These gatherings were designed to unite key researchers, financial, and project officers from various partner institutions, fostering a collaborative environment for the network's ambitious goals.

During these sessions, participants were welcomed with opening remarks by Network Coordinator, Prof. Jacint Jordana (Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals/IBEI), that set the tone for the meetings, emphasizing the network's commitment to collaboration and excellence. The introduction round was a highlight, allowing each attendee to present their research focus related to EU-VALUES. Utilizing a brief 5-minute format, the introductions were both efficient and informative, with some participants opting to enhance their presentations with PowerPoint slides.

After that, Network Manager Dr. Adam Holesch (Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals/IBEI) provided insights into the network's functioning, deliverables, and expectations. This segment was crucial for establishing a common understanding of the network's structure and objectives among the new members.

A comprehensive overview of financial management and coordination aspects was also provided, aimed at equipping the partners with the necessary knowledge for smooth operation within the network. This portion was particularly beneficial for financial and project officers, offering them a clear roadmap for their roles and responsibilities.

During the kick-off meeting, a Gender Equality Committee and an Editorial Committee were established.

The meetings concluded with a forward-looking discussion on the initial steps of the network, laying out a clear path for upcoming activities and collaborations. This segment was instrumental in building momentum and excitement for the network's future initiatives. The successful completion of these kick-off meetings heralds a promising start for the EU-VALUES network, with partners now better connected, informed, and ready to embark on their collaborative efforts to advance their shared goals.
